My Topic:
Animal tests should be regulated.

What I hope to learn from this source:
I wanted to find some data of animals that suffer by animal tests.
Notes:
  1. Oklahoma University in  USA taught a 15year old chimpanzee sign language to study the knowledge of it. For 4 years, chimpanzee learned sign language and learned about 250words.
The first thing chimpanzee said was "Let Me Out"
  2. animals can surely suffer by tests without any freedom.
Final Thoughts:
I thought this source can touch people's feeling by showing a poor life of a chimpanzee.
Also, if somebody says that animals don't need freedom, I would use this example to refute them.

Outline(week3 objective)

1. The introduction
I will first tell that many people know that animal tests are being held for humans. Next, I will say that animal test can be both good or bad.  Then I will shift attention to whether the audience know it is bad for both humans and animals. I'll end up with the thesis of my argument " Animal test should be regulated."
2. The narration

I will summarize the research I've done and provide an explanation to the audience about the present condition of animal tests. I will also explain the definition of a 'animal test'. Moreover, I will state where the animal tests are used in.
3. The confirmation

I will begin with some bad effects of animal tests and how it is related with human as well.
Then I'll give the examples of why we should regulate animal tests. Of course, I will reinforce my           argument by stating authority's statements.

4. The refutation and concession

I will concede that animal tests can be beneficial for human life. But still, there are some side effects, and also animals can suffer. Thus I will refute some arguments of people who say that animal tests should continue
5. The summation

I will finish my essay by restating my previous points. Also, I will say that most countries has regulated animal tests recently.

---------------------------------------------
Notes for outline

Animal tests should be regulated.

R1 : Animal test is against ethics.
    -pain to animals
-killing the same precious life as humans is not right

R2 :Humans should not test animals for their profits.
-Animal testing because it is cheap is not right.
    -There are some alternative resources.

R3 : Animal tests are not safe.
-only 1.16% same disease with human
-different reaction on tests with human

Refutation
1.Many countries and organizations define the 3R(replacement, reduction, refinement) for the animal tests.

Ref1: Not every nation is follwing the 3R rule

Ref2: Still, the animals die after experiment.

2. Animals tests can be used effectively on human life.

Ref1: If animal test can help reducing disease on humans, it is okay. However, Animals tested for cosmetics should stop. one hundred million animals should not die each year for human's beauty and health.
Ref2 : It may cause serious side effect. Cannot ignore the 1.16%? Most of the diseases included in 1.16% already has cure.

Conclusion
Europe union has already regulated animal test on primates.(monkeys, chimps)
Human being is also an animal

Articulation (Week3 objective)

1. My argument
-Animal tests should be regulated-
I want to argue that the animal life is also precious as humans. Some people think that animal tests are necessary for human life. I’d like to persuade them to change their minds.

2. How I found my argument
I chose my argument before starting research. Since our workbook talks aobut animals, I thought it will be okay to choose my argument related with animal tests.
I will do my research more.

3. New research questions
I think research questions I thought in week2 will be okay for my essay.
The present condition of animal tests.
How many animals are killed by animal tests.
Which nations are regulating animal tests.
How does people think about animal tests.
The advantages and disadvantages of animal tests.
The profits(economical) of animal tests.
I should start my research on internet and look for articles or statistics about animal tests.

4. Connections to the Harvard Sampler
In Harvard Sampler, there is a chapter that talks about the evidence of evolution. In there, It is wrote that many scientists had animal tests to study about the evolution. I wanted to know more about animal tests. Therefore, I chose to write an argumentative essay about animal experiments.

Research Proposal(week2 objective)

What is my current topic?
I will research about animal tests. I think my final persuasive essay will be about regulating animal tests.

What are my guiding questions?

The present condition of animal tests.
How many animals are killed by animal tests.
Which nations are regulating animal tests.
How does people think about animal tests.
The advantages and disadvantages of animal tests.
The profits(economical) of animal tests.

What are my current thoughts?
I know very little about animal test. So I should research a lot. My opinion is that it is better to regulate animal tests. I want to tell people about the cruelty of animal tests, and I want to persuade them to think about regulating animal test.

What is the opposition?
My opponets will probably say that animal test is essential for our life. For example, before making a medicine, safety should be proved by animal tests. Also, common belief is that animals killed by animal tests are little.
